Structural calculations and beam design for a kitchen extension
As part of a bespoke kitchen installation by The Kitchen Range an internal load-bearing wall from inside the existing property needed to be removed. The property had previously been extended and a potentially load-bearing wall to be removed this was suspected to be supporting external wall to the floors and the roof. We were asked by The Kitchen Range to carry out the structural alteration surveys associated with this home improvement project for advice on removal of a load-bearing wall and the subsequent replacement structural beam design.
We were employed to…
- Survey of existing structure
- Structural calculations for steelwork and padstones
- Arrangement drawing of the proposals
- Submit a fully compliant application to a Local Authority Building Control
Solution for Rectory Lane
- A pair of steel beams below the original cavity wall
- Engineering brick padstones
- Inspection of bearings at contractors requests during the works
- Completion and submission of a Building Notice to the Council
